Bangladesh’s tour to South Africa began with the first ODI in Centurion, followed by the second one-dayer in Johannesburg, after which the teams returned to Centurion. The Test series began on March 31 in Durban, followed by the second game in Port Elizabeth. Bangladesh won the ODI series 2-1.
For the ODI series, the SA squad was be led by Temba Bavuma, with Quinton de Kock doing wicketkeeper duties. The South Africa side had a full-strength team to start with, but certain prominent players departed for IPL 2022 by the time the Test series came about.
Bangladesh will be led by the experienced Tamim Iqbal. Shakib Al Hasan, whose availability was a subject of speculation and debate leading up to the series, is all set to play in the ODI series, starting Centurion. The ODIs will be part of the ICC Cricket Super League.
